If we request a visit, here's what you need to know

If we ask to visit

Here is all the information you need

We will occaisionally ask our members to arrange either a joint visit with them or a post inspection for one of our auditors to inspect the work completed by the member.

Visits are randomly selected from document serial numbers issued on our platform, we will not know anything about you or your relationship with our member, however these visits ensure our members adhere to the highest standards possible when it comes to gas work within England.

Visits

General questions about our attendances

How much does it cost ?
We do not charge clients of our members for these visits. Costs are covered by the member themselves to ensure they remain at the top of their compliancy game.
How long do they last ?
A joint visit will often last the same duration as it takes to complete the job by the member. Post visit inspections normally take around 30 minutes for a domestic property and around 60 minutes for a commercial property.
Are you Gas Safe Registered ?
We are not a Gas Safe Registered business as we do not undertake any gas work, however our auditors are qualified members of the Gas Safe Register in their own right to allow them to complete the inspection.
Can I get a copy of a record issued by you ?
No, for the purposes of privacy protection we do not hold any personal data about you or your gas installation - You will need to contact the issuing company/engineer to get a copy of the inspection report.
Do I have to allow a visit by you ?
No, it is entirely up to the client whether or not they would like us to attend. We will ask the member to contact you and explain what it is we are doing. If you are not happy to permit a visit, this is fine and we will select another document from the data pool.
Do you "work" on my gas installation ?
Not neccessarily, but we may remove cases and conduct working "tests" - Where we "work" on an installation we will provide you with a copy of the results from the tests undertaken, but will not provide a copy of the audit for the member business.
Do I need to provide you with parking ?
No, we intend to keep disruption to yourself to the minimum. Our auditors will organise parking themselves.
Will you remove your shoes ?
No, for health and safety reasons we cannot remove protective footwear, however we will cover our feet with shoe covers to make sure we don't make a mess.

Joint visits

When we attend with the member

How long does it take ?
We want to see as much of the member as possible to correctly assess their practices and working strategies, as such an audit will generally last for the duration of the regular visit being conducted by the member businesses engineer.
Will you slow the engineer down ?
Possibly, depending on how the engineer behaves under audit conditions.
We ask that all of our members having on-site audits inform you before and we ask them to ensure charging rates are adjusted accordingly so we do not have an impact on you, the consumer.

Post visit inspections

When we visit after a member has attended

How long does it take ?
All installations are different. The average domestic (residential) gas installation will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Commercial gas installations are likely to take longer and can last upto an hour.
What appointment slots are there ?
We provide timed appointments to suit you and will aim to be at your door within 15 minutes of the appointment time offered. Our visiting times start at 0800 Monday to Saturday and end at 1900 Monday to Friday and 1500 on Saturdays.
Where we are unable to keep this appointment, you will be entitled to a token gesture payment which will be paid by us, not the registered business that we are conducting an audit for.
If you find something unsafe, will you cut me off ?
Our auditors are Gas Safe Registered engineers as well and have a duty of care to ensure you are safe. Potentially yes, we could disconnect your appliance or installation if we feel it is not suitable for continued use.
If this situation did occur, we would expect the registered business to which we was auditing to re-attend as a matter of priority to correct the defect.
Do I need to be present ?
Yes, we require a responsible person, over the age of 18 to provide us access. We will not knowingly enter a property where there is no responsible person present.
